Sweat treatment | Hyperhidrosis
Excessive sweating can occur in many different areas of the body and the condition is known as hyperhidrosis. When sweating is so extreme at times neither being hot nor doing exercises, it can be very distressing and disrupting all aspects of a person’s life. Constantly changing clothes or freshening up is required to prevent body odor.
There are several treatment options:
Minimally invasive
For sweating under the arms I offer a treatment with Botulinum toxin type A (e.g. Botox ®) that is injected into the skin. After about a week a significant reduction in sweating occurs. The level of reduction depends on each individual. This effect lasts for four to six months and needs to be repeated.
Surgical
Alternatively, I also offer a treatment that permanently removes the sweat glands by scraping the tissue under the skin. This surgery may be performed either under local or general anaesthetic and eliminates the problem of excessive sweating in the long term.
